Back of puzzle tin reads:

Joseph Sulkowski studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the oldest art school in the United States, before moving on to the Art Students League of New York where he came under the influence of Frank Mason, a leading authority on the principles and techniques of the 17th century Flemish, Dutch, and Italian masters. Sulkowski was Mason's apprentice from 1974 - 1979.

Inspired by the natural world, Sulkowski refers to his personal mode of painterly expression as "poetic realism." He views the world as a poetic vision, and he expresses that vision in rich impastos and luminous transparent shadows on canvas. The animals, figures, and landscapes of the sporting life are the things that capture Sulkowski's imagination. His love for sporting dogs, terriers, and foxhounds inspires much of his work.

Joseph Sulkowski's work is represented in corporate, public, and private collections around the world.

The AKC Museum of the Dog preserves, interprets, and celebrates the role of dogs in society and educates the public about the human-canine bond through its collection of art and exhibits that inspire positive engagement with dogs.
